2017 Fighting Turtles Swim Season - Registration now OPEN!
Hello Fighting Turtle Families,
Another exciting swim season is upon us and the 2017 Swim Team Registration is now officially open. Once again we will be registering online, so please visit http://fightingturtles.swim-team.us to register your swimmers, sign up for your volunteer positions, and pay your registration fees. If you are a returning parent, be sure to just click on the yellow highlighted section at the top and it will automatically input your most current information for you. Also ALL parents, please be sure to check the Image Waiver box if you do NOT want us to use your child's photo on our team website or team FB page.
We will be holding two informational meetings and swimsuit fittings this year, from 5:30-7:30 pm at the King & Bear Amenity Center on Thursday, March 30th and from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the Murabella Amenity Center on Tuesday, April 4th. This is a great opportunity to talk with our new team coach, Junior Temotio, ask questions and learn about volunteer positions. You will also be able to try on this year's swimsuit. We have picked a high-quality TYR suit this year with our team's logo on it, so we encourage you to come and try it on to be sure you order the correct size. We are also strongly encouraging all swimmers this year to purchase the new suit so that we can present ourselves as a more unified team at our swim meets.
We are looking for Junior Coaches this season. If you are a swimmer 16 or older and are interested in being a junior coach, you can talk with our coaching staff at the informational meeting about applying. This is a great opportunity to get those much needed volunteer hours and help your younger teammates.
Volunteering is very important for a successful season. We can't do it without our parents' involvement. This year we will be requiring each family to volunteer at 3 swim meets. There are many different opportunities to volunteer. Starter and Stroke and Turn Officials require league training but the other positions do not. In the upper left hand corner of our team website there are descriptions of each volunteer position as well as a link to the sign up genius for league training clinics. We will be doing mini clinics during practices early in the season for parents who haven't timed before. We will announce those dates, so that you can learn and become more comfortable with timing. Volunteer slots are only for half of a meet so that you aren't working the entire meet.
The Fighting Turtles will be responsible for timing at Champs this year. We will have a separate signup for volunteers as we approach the week of Champs Competition. Each family that participates is asked to volunteer at Champs.
For those families who absolutely do not intend to contribute by volunteering, there is an "opt-out" fee of $200 that needs to be paid along with registration fees. However, we encourage you to contribute your time as it makes the burden lighter for all families.
We look forward to seeing you at one of the informational meetings and to another exciting and fun swim season. If you have friends or neighbors who haven't swam with us before, please invite them to attend the meetings as well.
If you have any further questions or comments please don't hesitate to contact a member of our Swim Board and we will be happy help in any way we can.
Go Turtles!
