Pool Use

No swimmers are allowed in the shallow side of the Murabella and King and Bear pool during practice.  For King and Bear, only residents are permitted to use the pool. For Murabella, the pool is technically closed to all in the morning, so we ask you keep swimmers who are waiting for their practice or siblings out of the pool area.  We will enforce these rules as they are stipulated in our agreements with the community and we don't want to put our team at risk.

During the meets, no members from either the home team or the visiting team are permitted to enter the shallow end.

Weather Policy/Cancellations

Rain: We do not cancel practice in light rain, but if the rain is too hard and we cannot see the bottom of the pool, we will need to cancel. The coach or a board member will communicate the cancellation.

Lightning: The coaching staff and board members use StormTracker and Lightning Tracker to monitor lightning. If lightning comes within 10 miles of the pool, we will have to clear the pool for 30 minutes. We do not like to cancel practice but know that it is frustrating if people get up and arrive at practice only to find that they we are on a rain delay. For that reason, we will make that call 10 minutes before practice begins if we are on delay or if there is a complete cancellation. If you have a longer drive, please wait until you have had communication from the coaches or the board members.

Heat Cancellation Protocols: For the health and safety of the swimmers and our coaching staff practice and meets will be canceled if one or both of the following are true:

  • Wet bulb thermometer is on or above 92.1 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Pool water temp is on or above 89.9 degrees Fahrenheit

The coach or one of the board members will have a wet bulb thermometer and pool temp thermometer on deck and will be responsible for testing and communicating status if one of the above are true.
