Happy Sunday Fighting Turtles!
Our first swim meet of the season was a success. The turtles looked sharp and ready to swim in their Fighting Turtles team suits. Like Coach Junior stated in his email we are already seeing improvement. It was fun to see so many turtles earning heat ribbons.
Helpful Hints to remember at the meets:
- The day before each meet you will receive meet information, directions, and heat sheets via email. Please remember to print the heat sheets to use at the meets. There is not a set time that this information will come out. We ask you to stay patient as it takes time for both teams to put a meet together. This is another reason why it is so important to RSVP on time.
- At the meets please check in your swimmer when you enter the pool and please do the same for yourself if you are a scheduled volunteer.
- At the meets encourage & remind your swimmers to get their times from their lane timer volunteer after every event they swim. Then they should go to the coaches table to report it & to get feedback from the coaches. This is a plan designed to assure swim times are accurate as well as assist swimmers with instruction and helpful tips for future swims.
- Swimmers are free to leave after their final event but we ask before you do please check with a bard member to confirm that your child is not an alternate for a relay and if you are a 2nd half volunteer you do need to stay until the end.
Volunteers:
As you can see it takes a lot of time and effort to pull off a swim meet. Volunteers are the most crucial aspect of the entire process. We are thankful and appreciative to you all for signing up to volunteer this season. A special thank you to those this past weekend that jumped in when we needed extra help. Our volunteer coordinator Emma Cooksey will be calling you to confirm prior to your scheduled volunteer role. We have upcoming events where we are in need of ready bench volunteers and timers. If you have not signed up for your 3 required volunteer slots please go online and do so or please see Emma on the pool deck.

Lastly, we are excited to say that we have 109 Fighting Turtles on our team! This is our largest group and an awesome testament to our program. With that being said registration has to close at this time due to league deadlines. Thank you again for your support and interest.
