    Julington Creek Meet Information

    Hello Turtle Families,

     

     

    Here is the information for tomorrow’s meet at Julington Creek!  ***Also, I wanted to remind everyone of our Ice Cream Social on Monday at King and Bear from 3:30-5:00.  We hope to see everyone there!

    Heat sheets and entry list are attached. Please print a copy and bring it with you to the meet! Remember to mark your swimmer's name and event numbers on the left shoulder and forearm. If your swimmer is listed in a relay on the entry list as number (1-4), he or she is entered into that relay. If number (5-8), he or she is an alternate; and you will not see their name on that event on the heat sheet. Alternates, please check with a board member before you leave the meet to be sure that you are needed for the relay.  There are a couple of relay changes already so be sure to check with the check in volunteer when you arrive for updates.  *****Be aware, there will be several combined events which are not marked on the heat sheets.  Please listen closely to announcements from the starter so that you don’t miss your swimmer’s event.

    From Julington Creek:

    We are looking forward to welcoming the FIGHTING TURTLES to our pool on Saturday, June 10th. The meet will be held at the Julington Creek Aquatic Center located directly across the street from the Champions Club Golf Course. 

    The address is:

    1140 Durbin Creek BlvdSt. Johns, FL 32259. 

    Your warm up time will be 7:20-7:50 and the meet will start at 8:00am. 

    Please allow us some time to get the meet set up and start our team warm ups. We have quite a bit of parking in the lot adjacent to the pool so it won’t be necessary to arrive too early. We have reserved parking spots for your Head Coach (1) and your Stroke and Turn Judges (4) working at the meet as well as a few other spots. These spots will be marked near the entrance of our pool. There are also other reserved spots for JCP residents—please note and respect those spots. 

    We will also have an area on our pool deck reserved for your teams. It will be the canopy area at the bottom of the ramp. You are also welcome to use any of the other grass and deck areas open and available. Personal pop up tents and folding chairs are permitted on Deck. 

    The times of all volunteer meetings will be announced on deck prior to the meet. Please have all Stroke and Turn Judges and Timers (both sessions) attend the meetings to receive instructions for the meet. Please ask your swimmers to have their last names, along with team initials written on their shoulders. We also suggest that our swimmers write all Events, Heats, Lanes and Strokes on their forearms. This information is very important especially for the younger swimmers and helps the Ready Bench areas significantly. 

    We will be running flyover starts, meaning that swimmers stay in the pool after the finish and get out after the start of the next race. This will allow us to speed up the meet. 

    We will have concessions open with coffee, drinks and snacks. The Hawaiian snow cone truck will also be parked out front. There are rest rooms near the entrance – they are on the right side as you walk in. The ready bench entrance is located next to the wading pool near the starter blocks side of the pool. 

    Please note: The family pool, kid’s wading pool, and playground are only available to residents not participating in the swim meet. Please keep your swimmers out of these areas. There are showers on deck or in the rest rooms for cooling off.
