    Mock Meet Information

Fighting Turtles Family, it is here! This Saturday is our mock swim meet! This event is just for our swimmers, so it is a great place to ask all the questions and get those jitters out. We will be setting up like it is a full meet so that everyone will be ready for next weekend when we take on the Aberdeen Rays. We will run through an abbreviated schedule so please pay attention to the events closely. There will not be as much downtime for our swimmers as there is in a full meet.

To prepare, you will find a few attachments with this email:

-Pool map – see attachment regarding parking, visitor set up, pool layout, care & feeding, volunteers’ info, & ready bench.

-Reading a Heat Sheet - this will show you who will be in the pool for what events /heats at the swim meet. You use the heat sheet to write the arm grid on your swimmer (see below & view attachment).

-Creating a Swimmers’ Arm Grid – this grid allows your swimmer to know what events/heat/lane they are racing in, see attachment for information. To keep it from smearing or washing off: Use Sharpie and avoid sunscreen; if using sunscreen, please apply 1 hour before writing on that area.

-Entry list/Heat Sheet – this will actually be sent out Friday night and will show you what races your swimmer is in.

    Saturday’s schedule:

    Parking

    • -Please review the attachment and follow directions of parking attendants. At the Amenities Center parking lot, there is no parking on the bridge, the roundabout, and the front six spots in the front of the center (gym use only). Parking on side streets is permitted, but not at the mailbox kiosk. Parking is permitted on one side only; that closest to the Publix (North) or opposite the fire station (West). We also may not park in the empty lot on the Southwest corner of Turin Terr and Murabella Pkwy. We apologize that parking is very limited and appreciate your observance and understanding.

    Reminders

    • -no one, including parents, spectators, swimmers, other children, are permitted to be in the lap pool (even the steps with only feet) during the swim meet. The league is very strict about this at all meets and locations.
    • -other amenities are for MuraBella residents only; please refrain from using the gym, meeting room, shallow pool, playground, and the courts. Bathrooms are found only on the pool deck, not in the amenities center meeting room.
    • -relays are at the end of all swim meets. If your child is in a relay they MUST stay and race or risk losing the ability to swim in relays the remainder of the season. It is unfair to the other three swimmers if the event is cancelled. If you have any concerns or emergencies, please contact Coach Logan or text Jeff (951-870-1419) ASAP, but by no later than 6:45am the morning of the race.
    • -Additional resources can be found on our website.

    Things to Bring

    • -Chairs, EZ-UP, water/sports drink, suntan lotion, sharpie, bug spray

Lastly, due to low volunteer turnout, we are requiring one parent per family to work a volunteer shift at the mock meet. Those families that have opted out are exempt. Volunteer assignments will be emailed by the Volunteer Coordinator on Friday. Shifts will be shortened and quick due to the nature of the event. This will also help parents feel more comfortable when we begin the regular season the following week.

See you all bright and early Saturday.Thank you and Go Turtles!
