Coach Introduction – Taylor Counter
Taylor Counter is currently pursuing a MA of Leadership at Lenior-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC while coaching LRU's Men's and Women's Swim Teams.
Counter received her undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Athletic Coaching from Western Kentucky University, located in Bowling Green, KY.Counter swam for Western Kentucky University from 2011-2015, helping the Women's team win the 2013 Subelt Swimming and Diving Conference Championship. She was also a Team Captain of the Women's Swim and Dive Team from 2014-2015.
Counter was born and raised in Scottsbluff, NE where she competed for the Scottsbluff Swim Club Torpedoes, earning state championship titles as well as Zone qualification times. She was a Nebraska state point scorer for the Scottsbluff High School Swim Team all four years of high school. She was the Nebraska All-State Champion in the 100-yard Breaststroke in 2011, making her the first woman from her hometown of Scottsbluff, Nebraska earn a state championship swimming title.
Counter started swimming when she was 8 years old and has a great passion for influencing young lives both in and out of the pool. She has taught swim lessons (both private and group) since she was 14 years old as well as being an assistant coach to 2 other country club swim teams in the last 3 years.
Counter is looking forward to spending the summer in St. Augustine with her two younger sisters and mother, who recently moved to the area. She is extremely excited to be given the opportunity to work with the Fighting Turtles and looks forward to a summer full of fun and fast swimming. Counter will be mentoring Josh Dixon on deck who will serve in an apprenticeship role. Josh is pursuing his Master’s degree, has extensive swim experience and served as a prior assistant swim coach.
